Drafting the right bio for your business profiles doesn't need to be difficult. Here are some tips for what to include and the differences between platforms to consider.
The Basics
Profile Pic - I suggest either a headshot photo or a simplified logo, nothing with too many words or a full business title, which could be too tiny to read.
Name - This isn't the account title; it is the name of the account holder. (+/- pronoun settings, optional)
Category - For FB & IG business accounts, you can set a category to help potential interested viewers find you better.
Bio Copy - Short & sweet description of your business, +/- emojis, location, etc.
Address - If Applicable
Link - To your business website directly, or to a LinkTree profile*
Message - When clicked, it takes the viewer to a Direct Message (DM) conversation where they can text you within the social media app.
Contact - When clicked, it will provide the email address and/or phone number so a prospective client can contact you directly outside of the social media app. (This is an optional setting you can choose to turn on/off.)
Differentiators
While all of the above are available for any bio regardless of platform, there are also some differentiators between platforms.
For example, Facebook allows you to add multiple location tags, links to profiles on other social media platforms, and in-app reviews. LinkedIn displays the # of employees and any open job listings.
The biggest differentiating factor to consider is the character limit for the bio description:
IG: 150
FB: 101
X: 160
LI: 220
Tip: Draft copy with 100 characters and keep it the same on all platforms for consistency!
