Can Social Media Still Be Positive?

It is no surprise the rise of social media over the past 20 years has had negative side effects on our society. It has led to serious issues, such as the increase in body dysmorphia and cyberbullying in youth, let alone the unprecedented overexposure to political events, and a wide array of other negative influences.
Unfortunately, social media has become yet another example of how something which starts out positive can be corrupted and tainted to become overwhelmingly negative.
The thing itself isn't inherently bad; some of the people who use it are bad.
So, can social media still be a positive force?
I personally believe the answer is undoubtedly a resounding YES!!!
The positive side still exists, and even thrives if you know where to look.
Social media has led to some truly beautiful things in our society, too. It has allowed for new interpersonal connections and the advancement of countless relationships, both romantic and platonic, personal and professional.
As much as we try to avoid remembering it, the C*v*d years would have been much worse if it were not for social media resources, which allowed us to stay connected with our family and friends during a time of increased isolation and separation.
Think about how much more we're able to stay in touch with friends and family who travel or have moved away from home.
Think of the number of important causes, charities, GoFundMe's, and other similar situations which have been able to gain attention and therefore the crucial funding they desperately needed.
Think of every small business owner who now has never-before-seen access to get their message out into their local communities!
I have heard every side of the "right vs. wrong" debate for social media. I have worked in this industry for almost a decade, let alone literally being raised in the era of its creation, adoption, and regulation. I hear both sides, but I also absolutely refuse to believe it is all bad.
I have seen firsthand how it can be a beneficial resource for good and literally help people. I have witnessed the evidence of quality content leading to new followers, new followers turning into prospective customers/clients, and real customers/clients willingly becoming devoted fans.
The positive influence of social media can be a funnel for new lead generations, an ice-breaker for new connections, and digital chat rooms to stay in touch with your community of followers.
